Helferin
The Helferinnenkorps, translated literally as 'Women
Helper Corps', comprised women volunteers who joined as
auxiliary personnel. Such personnel were not considered
actual SS members, since SS membership was closed to
women of that branch.
The Helferin Corps maintained a simple system of ranks,
mainly Helfer, Oberhelfer, and Haupthelfer. Members of
the Helferin Corps were assigned to a wide variety of
activities such as administrative staff and supply
support personnel and signal duties. The SS, Heer,
Luftwaffe, and Kreigsmarine also had women serving in
their respective branches.
