Rank Requirements
Below you will find the needed requirements for each rank and or special
duties required for each rank. Rank is not a gift , it is earned through
hard work and knowledge of the subject matter!
Early promotions can be awarded for service above and beyond the call of
duty.
Schutze: The new recruit is on probation and will be considered a
'Candidate' for the unit until they pass their probationary period, After
which they will have earned the right to wear the HOHENSTAUFEN cuff title.
Oberschutze: This level requires a minimum of 12 months of service
and a combination of 5 tactical battles and 2 public events. Also the
member must show a basic understanding of the rank system, Must be
proficient in all drills, marching and must be able to break down and
reassemble a K-98 rifle without flaw.
Sturmann: This level requires a minimum of 24 months service and a
combination of at least 10 Tactical battles and 4 public events. The member
must know the complete rank system, and all hand and arm signals, and be
able to command formations.
Rottenfuhrer: This level requires a minimum of 36 months of service
and a combination of at least 15 tactical battles and 6 public events. This
rank carries with it more responsibility and the member is expected to
perform many new duties that will be assigned to him. The ability to
organize and direct troops below him is paramount.
Unterfuhrer Antwarter-Abzeichen This is a special rank that
the rottenfuhrer may attain. This is an NCO candidate and shows that you
are considered good NCO material. You will entitled to wear a single strip
of NCO tresse at the base of the shoulder strap. As a junior NCO you be
required to be making a strong effort to recruit new members for the unit,
with a strong showing of responsibility that the rank and position demands.
This means you must be willing devote extra time and attention that this
requires. This position is not a automatic one and is to be agreed upon by
unit officers. Some areas of critique used in the process of promotion at
this level are as follows:
1. Strong personal authenticity with a positive mental attitude.
2. Leadership and ability to work well with unit leaders and members.
3. Demonstrating a strong team ethic.
4. Must show substantial knowledge of unit history, authenticity
standards and all related subjects.
5. Military understanding and conduct in the field.
6. Strong understanding and practice of all weapons and safety Regs.
Unterscharfuhrer: The above criteria having been met and prior
service as a Rottenfuhrer if moved to the higher rank the person will be a
NCO candidate for 6 months at which time their performance will be reviewed
and if found suitable the member will be entitled to wear the related
insignia.
Stabscharfuhrer: This is a speciality rank which requires the
memeber to hold a NCO rank for a minimum of 3 years and show an extreme
strong interest in the future of the 9th SS. This position may only be
bestowed by the unit CO and is a position of great responsibility. This
rank entitles the member to wear two rows of NCO tresse on each of the
sleeves of the uniform above the turn-up if applicable. This person is to
be known as "Der Speiss" and is to be respected. This person will be held
accountable to maintain the units records and to report quarterly to the
unit CO in order to make the awards and to give credit due to members.
Scharfuhrer, Oberscharfuhrer, Hauptscharfuhrer:
These ranks will be deemed as further steps for the NCO to attain. This
will require a continued dedication to the 9th SS HOHENSTAUFEN.
Fuhrer Bewerber: In order to recognize the individual who has been
deemed worth of promotion to officer status Reichsfuhrer Heinricj Himmler
instituted in 1940 the Fuhrer Bewerber title. We will be using this title
only for the NCO in the 9th SS. The insignia for this consists of two
strips of NCO tresse across the base of the shoulder straps.
If the bearer is the rank of Hauptscharfuhrer the strips will be positioned
between the pips. This will require the candidate to have at least 3 years
of service time as a NCO and show a deep sense of reponsibility and
dedication to the 9th SS Reenactment unit. Upon completion of 6 months of
active service the member will be promoted to the rank of Untersturmfuhrer
and will then be in a position of great responsibility.
